Sam Thayer, 13, was riding his blue Diamond Back Edgewood mountain bike south on the edge of southbound Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota about 10 a.m. Thursday May 21st. According to reports, the right front of a SUV struck Samuel’s bicycle and threw him to the pavement. Samuel was airlifted to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg with serious injuries. The Village Idiots Cycling Club has donated water bottles to a group of patients suffering from mild to medium Parkinson’s Disease symptoms. They are participating in a unique “Pedaling with Parkinson’s” class jointly held by the Neural Challenge Foundation and the Sarasota YMCA. The Parkinson’s patients are in a stationary cycling demonstration program to improve Parkinson’s symptoms and quality of life.
