Extend the Legacy Trail with the Village Idiots Cycling Club and The Friends of the Legacy Trail
Fundraising Ride and Day on the Legacy Trail to raise awareness for the extension into downtown Sarasota
Sunday, June 22, 2014 8am – 1pm
Stop by the Village Idiots Cycling Club’s tent at the north end of the trail and sign the petition and make a donation!
Village Idiots Cycling Club sponsored ride (21.86 miles). Ride starts at 8am from the northern end of trail near the Culverhouse Nature Park in Sarasota (7301 McIntosh Road).
Park at the Culverhouse Nature Park in Sarasota (7301 McIntosh Road), or nearby, and meet at the northern end of the trail by 7:50am (ride starts at 8am).
Head south along the Legacy Trail for 4.5 miles
Turn right onto E Bay Street follow for about a mile to Old Venice Road
Turn left onto Old Venice Road and follow until Highway 41
Cross over Hwy 41, road becomes Blackburn Point Road
Follow Blackburn Point Road to Casey Key Road and follow south
Follow Casey Key Road south to the Bridge on Albee Road W Once over the bridge
Turn left onto Bayshore Road and head north
Bayshore Road curves to the right and becomes Laurel Road W
Stay on Laurel Road across Hwy 41 to the Legacy Trail
Follow the Legacy Trail north to the end of the Trail …then back-track .25 mile to your car.

Short Family Route (.44 miles round trip)
Park at Culverhouse Nature Park, turn right out of parking area and ride north to trail end.
Medium Family Route #1 (7.9 miles round trip)
Park at the Osprey Junction Trailhead in Osprey (939 E. Bay Street), turn left onto the trail and ride north to trail end.
Long Family Route (10.74 miles round trip)
Park at the Oscar Scherer State Park in Nokomis (1843 S. Tamiami Trail), turn left onto the trail and follow north to trail end.
Laurel Park up and Back (16.44 miles round trip)
Park at Laurel Park in Laurel (509 Collins Road), turn left onto trail and ride north to trail end.
