Welcome to the home of the Village Idiots Cycling Club, and RND Racing Team brought to you by VICC.
We are non-profit, educational, and social organization dedicated to both serious and recreational cycling enthusiasts. We are a USA Cycling registered bicycling club consisting of a wide range of riders of various ages, backgrounds, and professions, who share a common love for cycling. Our goal is to provide our members with the opportunity and support to ride and compete while having fun in safe manner. It is our goal to train new cyclists, grow the skills of our club and race participants, to be cycling advocates in our community, and to benefit a variety local charities, such as the American Diabetes Association and the Team Tony Cancer Foundation.
We are located in the Sarasota/Manatee area of Florida. We have a very active ride schedule with group rides originate primarily in Lakewood Ranch, but we ride in Bradenton and Sarasota as well. Our group rides cater to various levels of ability, with ride leaders making sure the pace is controlled and assisting with pace line instruction when needed. Our beginners start out in a 14-18mph group and ride 20 miles. Our most advanced group rides 35 miles at speeds over 26mph, and we have many levels in between. We are primarily a road biking club but have members that participate in mountain biking, cyclocross, and triathlons as well.
We have a USA Cycling Race Team sponsored by RND Automation. Members can be found at local crit, mountain bike, triathlon, and cyclocross races.
Our Facebook group has become a local hub for the cycling community, and can be educational, fun, and a great source of daily “pickup” rides, where speeds, distance, time, and route are announced. Please check our website calendar for regularly scheduled group rides, as well as Charity rides, and rides from other clubs around the state that we are participating in.
Please feel free to browse around our site, or better yet, come on out and ride with us!
The Village Idiots strongly recommend that all cyclists wear a Road ID. In the event of an accident, if you can’t speak for yourself, your Road ID will. It’s not just a piece of gear – it’s peace of mind. If you purchase your Road ID by clicking the link on the left, a small portion of the sale will be donated back to the club.
